The power cut has also become a traffic stopper as traffic signals go on the blink when power gets switched off in each locality in the city.Since they do not have a separate power circuit,unlike street lights,traffic signals get switched off during the schedule power cut.
on the first day of the power cut traffic police were caught unawares when the traffic lights went off causing huge snarls at various part of city...AT adayar where power cut was scheduled between 6 to 7.30 pm.The police were surprised when it was imposed only after 12 noon when normally a lone constable manned the traffic signals.only from the next day the cops were ready,anticipating the switch off time
